Tiger

.Inspired by Poets United Thursday Think Tank prompt - Animal

My love was a tiger
it chased you down
and ate you, raw

It consumed you, limb by limb
lingering over your eyes
relishing your beating heart

You became part of my body
ingested and nutritious
you fed my desire

Striped and sated, I slept
your sweet life still pulsing
inside my belly . . .

Look out boys, she'll chew you up! She's a man-eater! Susannah, I've watched over the years as you've turned into an awesome poet and writer. This stuff is getting better and better. You are one of my favorite mentors.

Susannah, one of the first creatures in my Personal Mythology was a tiger named Pain. He came to teach me many many things, some of them echoed here in your wonderful poem. He is with me to this day, and when I read your poem, he settled with a sigh and whispered, "Yes!" Thank you,

Elizabeth

Beautifully wrought! I felt the animal passions, the hunger that is love. You brought out wonderfully, the power of sated love can bring, thank you!

Thanks very much, your comments are much appreciated and it is really nice to meet those of you that I haven't before. :-)

Honey, you are the best writer I have seen in a long time. I am not blowing smoke in your lovely (I'm sure) face. I have read each of the three poems you linked and I am stunned. Where in God's name did you come from? I post creativity on my social/political blog on Sundays and would be honored to feature your work. Please consider it. Either way I'll drop back by often and will add you to my blog list. I hate trying to tell someone why I like their work. You just knocked me on my ass and that is what I like about life and art.

Oh you tigress you!
A sensual love poem indeed.

Very nicely penned.

The luscious animal instinct in this poem is mesmerising! A cavort of passion!

I was just wondering...should "striped" be "stripped"?

Susannah said...

Thanks everyone for your comments I really appreciate you taking the time to read and comment. :-)

Gemma, thanks but no it should definitely be 'striped' - as all good tigers are. :-)

Good to meet you.

I can hear the growls from here, mixed with the purring of big cat after the hunt! LOL

What tangled images this evokes in me. Your powerful poem shows a side of you I hadn't suspected before. Brava.

Good to see you Viv, you tracked down an old one here. :-) I saw the prompt and it was one of those that just tumbled out!

A side of me you hadn't suspected? ...oooh that has got me worried now!
