Red Brick - Magpie Tales 51

Inspired by this weeks Magpie Tales and the photo below.

Wet red brick retains the memory of my footsteps

for I have passed this way before and will again.

Ever observant, the grey sky watches me walk,

storing each moment for when I have passed

and the only traces left of me have seeped

into the porous surface and disappeared...

I wondered of all the footsteps absorbed into these old bricks when I walked across them.

I like the familiarity, the imprints of days past walking this way... Nice.

Sucked in bits of us all roam in the brick work, residual ghosts.

Almost as though you have walked the walk and left the memory. Nice poem.

Hi Susannah..liked what you were going for in this poem
the thoughts of a poet....everything is something
footsteps absorbed into other footsteps..I like that

Beautifully economical, it works very well and suggests far more than it says.

I happened by this photo today, my mind took off, but I stopped it for other needs, excellent response.
