The shadow black stripes, define you,
throw your light into sharp contrast,
give you a depth and a fullness
that without them would not exist.
To be manifest and well rounded
you need the light and the shade.
You are not a pencil drawing,
scrawled on a flat surface.
You have body, you have shape,
dimension, form and movement,
without the shadow blacks . . .
your colour would have no meaning.
throw your light into sharp contrast,
give you a depth and a fullness
that without them would not exist.
To be manifest and well rounded
you need the light and the shade.
You are not a pencil drawing,
scrawled on a flat surface.
You have body, you have shape,
dimension, form and movement,
without the shadow blacks . . .
your colour would have no meaning.

Lovely poem. Indeed we see objects with their shadows, for no object doesn't have a shadow. They all have shadows and they're meant to have shadows.
I liked the last line particularly. A wonderful way to end a poem.
Madhumacki, that is so true, everything has and needs a shadow. Thanks very much for visiting. :-)
Good alchemy. Good poetry!
