when the too sharp day
dresses me in its nuance
when the trembling sky
lets go its precious drops
when curtains are drawn
so my light is banished
when there's pin prick holes
in the cat clawed darkness
when hope comes leaping
through bat filled night
when courage is gathered
to face the morning
when the door is unlocked
and windows flung wide
when words mean more
than marks on paper
when. . .

Susannah,
You have presented a poem which captures both the window in its many guises and how that sets the mood within the soul, for the day.
I liked what I could see......

Oh but I love this poem. Every line has something, a small gem, and strung together it makes a wonderful chain. Very nicely done.
So much to think about here, so many connected images, so many windows open.
I like the "when" verses.. nice play of words... like this:
when there's pin prick holes
in the cat clawed darkness
Nice to meet you~
Fling them open wide and write away...
Well Susannah, you've described changing moods and scenes taken in by the constant observer. Layers of meaning could emerge. A history might be laid out here.
Beautiful images. What an ending...
What a vivid image you draw. I love your cat clawed curtain. It makes the whole poem real and down to earth. Words always mean more than marks on paper—yours are lovely.
Very nicely done, we close it all to keep it out, or, we open to let it all in, or, vice versa.
Lovely use of the prompt.
really cool - solid use of imagery...cat clawed darkness...
When these things come to pass... then the days ahead may be bravely faced.
WELL DONE; I loved it...I loved how we saw the view change at different hours of the day!
Beautiful combination of imagery and metaphor. I like the unresolved ending too.
I love the repetition and the many images they evoke. There seems to be some aspect of hope in each of the scenarios, and a hint of resolve to face whatever comes. Very nicely done!
Interesting thoughts, Susannah. It sounds like it could go on. :)
Oh! that was wonderful use of the imagery........
'cat clawed darkness'... an image worthy of yeats. beautiful take on the windows prompt.
great imagery - I especially loved "
when there's pin prick holes
in the cat clawed darkness"
And words always mean more than marks on paper...
Thanks everyone for your comments, they are much appreciated.
